Emergency Dentist in
Harrington Park and Oran Park

A dental emergency isn’t something you plan for. Whether it’s a toothache that’s woken you up in the night, a chipped tooth from a knock, or a crown that’s come loose on the weekend, you want to know someone’s there to help. With late-night and weekend appointments available, our team can triage your concern and help arrange the earliest suitable appointment for the care you need.

Signs You May Need an Emergency Dentist

A dental emergency isn’t always obvious in the moment. If something doesn’t feel right, or you’re not sure whether it can wait for a regular appointment, give us a call and tell us what’s going on. We’re happy to talk it through and help you work out whether to come in today or book in later.

The most common reasons patients call us for urgent care are:

  • Severe toothache that isn’t relieved by over-the-counter pain relief
  • A knocked-out permanent tooth (time-sensitive, so call and come in straight away)
  • A broken or chipped tooth, especially where a large piece has come off
  • A lost filling or dental crown
  • Facial swelling from a suspected tooth infection
  • Wisdom tooth pain that’s flared up
  • A broken denture that needs urgent repair
  • Bleeding gums that won’t stop after an injury.

Same-Day Emergency Dental
Appointments Across Both Clinics

When you need urgent dental care, having two clinic locations gives you more options. We hold emergency appointment spots across our opening days at both Harrington Park and Oran Park. Quite often, we may be able to see you on the same day, depending on availability and the urgency of your dental concern.

Calling outside opening hours? Leave us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we’re back in the clinic.

After-Hours and Weekend

Emergency Dental Care

Oran Park Dental Care is open seven days a week, including Sundays, with after-hours appointments on Monday and Thursday evenings. Harrington Park Dental Care is open six days a week. If you’re a Harrington Park patient with a weekend emergency, your dental history is already on file at Oran Park, so we can see you there without any paperwork to redo.

Dental Emergency
First Aid Before Your Appointment

Here are a few first-aid steps that could help you until you’re seen by our dentists:

  • Knocked-out tooth. Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root, and gently rinse it with milk or water. If you can, pop it back in the socket. If not, keep it in a container of milk. Time matters here, so try to get to us within the hour.
  • Broken tooth. Save any pieces you can find. Rinse your mouth with warm water and hold a cold compress against your cheek to help with swelling.
  • Toothache. Rinse with warm salt water and take standard over-the-counter pain relief as directed. A cold compress can help too. Try not to place aspirin directly on the gum.
  • Lost filling or crown. If you’ve got the crown, keep it somewhere safe and bring it with you. Avoid chewing on that side.
  • Facial swelling. Come in as soon as you can. Facial swelling from a dental infection can indicate a problem that needs prompt treatment.
  • Broken denture. Bring all the pieces with you, including any small ones. It’s best not to try gluing them back together with household adhesive.

Payment and Health Fund
Options For Emergency Dental Care

We know an unexpected dental bill isn’t what you needed today. We accept all private health funds and process your claim on the spot through HICAPS. Harrington Park Dental Care is also a CBHS preferred provider, and we accept CDBS for eligible kids and DVA for veterans.

If the treatment you need is more involved, we offer flexible payment plan options through either Afterpay or TLC so you can spread the cost over scheduled installments rather than paying it all upfront.
