Dental implants in
Harrington Park and Oran Park

If you’d like to fix missing teeth, and you’d like a stable and secure replacement, dental implants are worth a conversation. The dentists at Oran Park Dental Care and Harrington Park Dental Care carry out single implants, multiple teeth implants and implant-supported bridges across both clinics.

The first step is a complimentary consultation where we look at your teeth, bite, bone density and general health, and talk through whether implants are a suitable option for you.

What is a Dental Implant?

An implant is a small titanium post placed into your jawbone, where it fuses with the surrounding bone over a few months. Once the implant has healed, a custom-made crown is fitted on top, giving you a replacement tooth you can eat, speak and smile with as you would your own.

Dental implants have been used widely in Australian dentistry for several decades. The treatment usually happens in two phases: the implant placement and the crown fitting, separated by a healing period in between to allow the bone to integrate around the implant.

Our dental implant treatments

All cosmetic and surgical dental treatments carry potential risks, limitations, and require appropriate aftercare to support healing and long-term outcomes. An in-person consultation with a registered dentist is necessary to assess your condition and suitability. General risks associated with the cosmetic and surgical procedures offered can be found here.

What to expect from your
implant treatment

Consultation and Planning

We take 3D scans of your jaw and review your medical history before any preparatory work is done. You’ll leave with a written treatment plan and a quote, so you’ve got everything you need to think it over.

Implant Placement

The implant is placed into your jawbone under local anaesthetic in the chair. If you’d prefer extra comfort, IV sedation is available at our Oran Park clinic. The appointment itself may vary around 60–90 minutes depending on each case.

Healing

The implant fuses with your jawbone (a process called osseointegration) over a period of around three months. During this time you’ll have a temporary tooth or healing cap in place while the implant settles.

Crown Placement

Once your implant has integrated, we fit your custom-made crown on top. The crown is colour-matched to your surrounding teeth so it blends in.

Dental implants recovery
time and aftercare

You may experience some swelling and tenderness around the surgical site for the first few days. We’ll give you specific aftercare instructions, including how to eat, brush and rinse during the healing phase.

Looked after well, with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, dental implants are designed to last for many years. The crown on top may need replacement at some point, but the implant post itself is intended as a long-term tooth replacement.

Risks and Considerations

Dental implant surgery is generally well-tolerated, but as with any surgical procedure there are risks worth discussing before you commit to treatment. While the risks and considerations specific to your case will be discussed during your consultation, general information about treatment considerations and risks associated with dental implant treatment can be found here.
